Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last Updated: September 15, 2026
Important Notice
SnapStay acts as a payment facilitator. The final decision regarding the refund of booking amounts, rent, or security deposits depends strictly on the individual cancellation policies set by the PG Owner.
1. Booking Cancellation Conditions
If a student wishes to cancel a booking before moving in, the refund amount will be determined by the specific cancellation window defined by the PG Owner (e.g., 100% refund if cancelled 15 days before move-in, 50% if cancelled within 7 days). SnapStay will facilitate the refund transfer based on the owner's approval.
2. Platform Fee Policy
Any convenience fees, platform service fees, or payment gateway charges levied by SnapStay or Cashfree at the time of the transaction are strictly non-refundable, regardless of the booking cancellation status.
3. Security Deposit Disclaimer
SnapStay does not hold your security deposit. Once paid, the security deposit is transferred to the PG Owner. At the time of move-out, the owner is responsible for calculating deductions (for damages, pending bills, etc.) and processing the refund. SnapStay provides the digital ledger to track these deductions, but cannot force an owner to release funds.
4. Payment Failures
If your payment is deducted from your bank account but the booking is not confirmed on SnapStay (due to network or gateway errors):
- Do not attempt to pay again immediately.
- Wait 24 hours for the payment gateway (Cashfree) to reconcile the transaction.
- If the payment fails, the amount will be automatically refunded to your original payment method within 5-7 business days by your bank.
5. Dispute Handling Process
In the event of a dispute regarding a refund amount with a PG Owner, you can raise a ticket with SnapStay support. We will provide the digital audit trail, payment receipts, and the agreed-upon digital lease agreement to assist in mediation. However, SnapStay bears no legal liability to enforce the refund.
